Description
UV Fluorescent Mineral Eucryptite from Xinghualing Mine, China EUC003Item Description
This fluorescent mineral specimen originated from the Xinghualing Mine in the Hunan province of China. It passed through the 22nd Street Gem and Mineral show in Tucson, Arizona and is waiting to join your collection!
The Tucson seller got the material from an estate just before the shed containing all of the minerals was about to be bulldozed into the ground. The seller was able to selectively buy the best pieces before the rest was returned to the earth.
This specimen shows eucryptite with spots of fluorescing scheelite. When viewed under shortwave UV light, the eucryptite is a bright crimson and the spots of scheelite show up bright white.
This piece is shown illuminated under shortwave UV-C at a distance of approximately 10 inches. Color intensity may vary depending on your lamp wattage and distance.
It would be an excellent addition for the fluorescent rock, gem, and mineral collector.
