Description
A really oddball specimen of cherty tan/beige willemite with underlying fluorescent hardystonite and some franklinite from Franklin, NJ. It almost looks like it's manganaxinite but the UV light doesn't show that. I've only seen one other specimen like this and I think it was from the same find. Collector number is P 392 (Claude Poli?). The hardystonite is fluorescent purple and the willemite is fluorescent green under shortwave UV light. Photos 12-14 are under longwave UV and show the typical response for both hardystonite and willemite under longwave. There is also black franklinite which is non-fluorescent. Size: 5-1/2" x 3" x 2-1/2". Weight is 1 lb. 13 oz. or 828 grams. You must have a 254nm shortwave UV lamp or a 365nm longwave UV lamp to properly view the fluorescent response of this specimen.
