Description
Sphalerite glows pink/orange/blue with a good longwave UV lamp. The calcite, as mentioned above, glows red.
This piece also glows best in midwave UV.
If using fluorescent tubes as your UV source, midwave may be better than longwave.
Most of the sphalerite is on one side/end.
Much of the blue is overstated reflection and not seen by the eye.
But there is some blue there.
This rock weighs 7.1 ounces (203g) and measures about 2.75 inches X 1.75 inches X 1.75 inch (6.8 cm x 4.2 cm x 4.2 cm).
Photos #1 and 2 are in Midwave AND Longwave UV together.
The other UV Photos are in Longwave using a quality Longwave flashlight.
NOTE: Typical Blacklight UV lights will not display any color.
Also, the intensity of the color will vary depending on the strength of the lamp you have.
