Pink Elbaite Tourmaline with Kunzite & more - a fluorescent Skardu wonderland! From Skardu, Pakistan, the famous pegmatite mineral location in the mountainous Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan
3 x 2.5 x 1 inches or 7.75 x 2.5 x 1 cm
This mineral specimen has so much going on. It's like a pegmatite mineral soup with little chunks of this and that all stuck together. The matrix is unknown to me. It fluoresces white.
I've photographed it 2 different times to make sure that I captured the fluorescence correctly. I see fluorescent Kunzite for sure but it's harder to identify the other fluorescent colors. It's a crazy patchwork quilt of Skardu fluorescents!
I've never seen another piece like this and I've been a collector of Pakistan and Afghanistan for years.
That’s why the price must remain high.

Skardu, Pakistan is one of the richest sources of pegmatite minerals in the world. It's famous for gemstones like Aquamarine. The pegmatites there are rich in Tourmalines of different colors, Kunzite, Topaz in addition to Apatite. The pegmatites of San Diego County, California have the same set of minerals. For the most part San Diego's pegmatites are mined out but a few mines are still producing gem pockets. Skardu is very much still producing a wide array of fantastic specimens. They may not last forever so now is a good time to get some killer pieces.
