Mylonitized Willemite Fluorescent Mineral, Sterling Hill, NJ

Description

Highly patterned specimen with highly elongated masses of Mylonitized Willemite, Calcite (SW/UV red) and Franklinite.  The Willemite does show some very mild "Afterglow".
This prime example of Mylonitization shows the interesting twisted and elongated grain structure from tectonic forces that have stretched and compressed the mineral masses.
From the Sterling Hill Zinc Mine, Ogdensburg, Sussex County,  New Jersey.

Must be viewed with a short wave ( 254 nm ) ultraviolet lamp.
Pictures taken with a 12 MP camera and a 9 watt Way Too Cool short wave UV lamp.
