Description
Nice color contrasts!A fine assemblage.
A FOUR color (teal, purple, red, green – chlorophane, fluorite, calcite, willemite, respectively).
NOT super bright, but as can be seen in the photos, WITH THE RIGHT LIGHTS, this piece is beautiful.
And as always, the longwave teal phosphorescence of the chlorophane steals the show!
No photo of the phosphorescence, as it is hard to capture on a camera.
From Franklin, NJ, this rock weighs 5.4 ounces (154g).
The piece measures 2.50 inches x 2.00 inches x 1.25 inches 6.2 cm x 5.0 cm x 3.0 cm).
A nice unusual piece to add to your collection.
Chlorophane fluoresces a nice teal blue color.
How brightly it fluoresces (and phosphoresces) depends upon your lamp and the darkness of the room.
The phosphorescence of the chlorophane in this piece is nice in a completely dark room, with dark adjusted eyes.
While Chlorophane Phosphoresces very nicely, it is sometimes best to simply turn off the SW lamp to see all the Chlorophane continue to glow.
Chlorophane is also thermolumenescent.
Photos #1 - 4 were taken with Shortwave UV, and Photos #5 -8 in Longwave using a quality 365nm UV flashlight.
With the longwave FyrFly light the Chlorophane has a highly intense, beautiful teal phosphorescence.
The best way to view the chlorophane is via its longwave phosphorescence.
Please note:
It takes dark adjusted eyes and very good lamps to see the colors in these photos.
WE BUY OLD FRANKLIN AND STERLING HILL COLLECTIONS, INCLUDING “BASEMENT ROCK BOXES”!
*AN IMPORTANT WORD ABOUT CHLOROPHANE* Chlorophane will, over time, lose its ability to fluoresce if exposed to sunlight and upon multiple UV exposures.
Therefore, it is well advised to keep these rocks in the dark at all times.
The easiest way to do that, in my opinion, is to keep them in one of those holiday cookie tins, or wrapped in aluminum foil, or both.
I keep mine wrapped in dark paper within a cookie tin for double protection.
For shipping purposes, you will receive this purchase wrapped in aluminum foil within bubble wrap for safe shipping.
NOTE: Typical Blacklight UV lights may NOT display any color.
Also, the intensity of the color will vary depending on the strength of the lamp you have.
For a good quality Shortwave lamp at a reasonable price, I suggest you buy lamps made by Engenious Designs. The manufacturer sells these lamps directly to you online.
For an excellent Longwave lamp, I recommend you check out the FyrFly light also from Engenious Designs, which
puts far more expensive Longwave lamps to shame time and again.
I have set the shipping as First-Class Mail.
If you plan on bidding on MORE than one rock, let me know BEFORE you pay your invoice, so I may combine shipping to save you money.
I can often fit 5 or even 6 rocks in one box.
