    Description

    Up for bid is a plate of Quartz with Hydrocarbon inclusions on matrix. There are two types of crystals. The larger crystals are clear and have obvious Petroleum inclusions that fluoresce Blue-White under all UV wavelengths. The smaller crystals are translucent and fluoresce a Cream color under all UV wavelengths. This is probably due to Hydrocarbon inclusions as well.
    This specimen seems to fluoresce a little better under LW UV. First picture is close up under SW UV, Second Picture is close up under LW UV, third picture is close up under White Light. Next three pictures are the entire specimen in the same order.
    This specimen came from an undisclosed location in NM. (My research indicates this may be in Sierra County). Most of my specimens have the crystals in a vug. Specimens with a plate of crystals like this are rare.
    The vugs these Quartz crystals come in remind me of the “Herkimer Diamonds” from the Herkimer region of New York State. The fluorescent petroleum inclusions look very similar to those found in similar quartz crystals from Pakistan, sometimes referred to as “Pakimers”. People are calling this new material “Enchanted Diamonds” since New Mexico is the land of enchantment.
    Quartz crystals in Matrix are rare from Herkimer New York since the matrix is usually very hard and the crystals commonly break off matrix during collecting. Very few of the Herkimer specimens have fluorescent inclusions. Matrix specimens from Pakistan are rarer still because of the high cost of shipping.
