Description
LONG WAVE and SHORT WAVE UVNice two color fluorescence with this Terlingua-type Calcite cleaved rhomb. It fluoresces pink with long wave UV light and light blue/white under in short wave UV light.
In daylight it is feint pink color with sharp, clean, cleaved faces.
Very strong Phosphorescence after short wave UV exposure wave.
The crystal is cleaved into a typical Calcite rhombohedral form and is a milky white to clear in color.
These Terlingua type Calcites are amazing, probably the best fluorescing minerals I have owned.
From The Challenger Cave in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
52 grams.
2" inches in length.
NOTE!
I used a long wave (365nm) UV convoy2 with a band pass filter for the long wave images, you will need one as well to see the UV reaction like in the pictures. The short wave images were shot under a 6 watt short wave lamp (254nm).
