Description
LONG WAVE UVNepheline Syenite rock "Yooperlite" with fluorescent Sodalite. Nice sized, finer grained, darker specimen (higher mafic mineral content) that shows a really nice streak of Sodalite under the UV light.
These Syenite rocks can have different grain sizes, mineral mixtures throughout the rock body, or go through a metamorphic change or partial meta change. This is why they may look different in daylight such as this one which has smaller and darker mafic minerals.
Rounded from tumbling around in lake Michigan.
Collected in Milwaukee county Wisconsin along the lake Michigan shoreline.
128 grams.
2-1/2" length.
Combined shipping available.
NOTE!
I use a ConvoyS2 LONG WAVE 365nm UV flashlight with a band pass filter installed for finding these and the photos, you will need one as well to see the fluorescence as nicely as seen in photos.
