Description

Sphalerite glows yellow-orange under a good longwave UV light (Photos #1 and 3).
This piece also glows a bright orange fluorescence in midwave UV, Photo # (Photos #2 and 4).
If using fluorescent tubes as your UV source, midwave may be better than longwave, but the FyrFly flashlight shows it best.
This is a stone weighing 4.4 ounces (127g) and measuring about 3.0 inches X 2.50 inches X 1.00 inches (7.4 cm X 6.2 cm X 2.4 cm).
Sphalerite shows best in longwave using the FyrFly light. Do not expect such color without the FyrFly, or equivalent lamp.
Even an expensive 60W “Big Brand Name” longwave lamp will not show the colors as well.
The FyrFly light is highly recommended.
