    Description

The color is more red/orange than yellow.
It is just too bright for the camera.
    From Franklin, NJ.
    This is a rock weighing 3.7 ounces (107 g), and measuring approximately 2.75 inches X 1.50 inches X 1.25 inches (6.8 cm X 3.6 cm X 3.0 cm).
    From the Gerry McLoughlin collection.
This is Crazy Calcite from the Franklin Mine in New Jersey. Locally called this because of the calcite and dolomite spots in matrix.
What makes Crazy Calcite so special is that the calcite fluoresces the usual red/orange while the dolomite fluoresces purple!
    Nice contrast!
Photos #1, 3, and 5 are shown in shortwave UV.
Photos #2, 4, and 6 are in longwave with quality flashlights which shows spots of nice orange color.
Do NOT expect any significant color using a Way Too Cool or similar fluorescent bulb lamp, no matter how powerful.
It shows the best with a Midwave Flashlight, or a quality Longwave flashlight, but not nearly as well with midwave or longwave fluorescent tubes.
Photo #7 is with a midwave UV fluorescent tube.
Looking for a great UV light at the best price?
I can help you get the best bang for your dollar, whether it be shortwave, midwave, or longwave.
I can help you navigate the maze of lights out there, from cheap, useless lights to high-priced lights that may be more than you need.
Just ask, and I’ll help guide you through the maze to something that meets your budget and desired wavelengths!
NOTE: Typical Blacklight UV lights will not display any color.
Also, the intensity of the color will vary depending on the strength of the lamp you have.
