    Powellite is a rare molybdate. This is a very good miniature fluorescent specimen of powellite. The powellite is a yellow crust that covers much of the top and a part of the bottom over a matrix of quartz. The powellite fluoresces brightly under a UV SW lamp.
    The specimen is number 12-5 in the catalog of the Joseph Mitchell collection which consisted of worldwide minerals collected from 1937 to about 1980.
